8 Things I Like About Myself

Hello everybody,

The other day, I realised how bad I am at receiving compliments, and how it's so easy to focus on all the things I don't like about my looks. Thats why I am writing this post.

People can be insecure and have things that they hate about what they look like. (By the way, the things you don't like about yourself seem worse to you then they really are.) We (and I am very guilty of this) compare ourselves to others. It may be something small, like "She has way nicer eyebrows than me" or it could be something big, for example "She is so much prettier than I am". These thoughts are very bad, they make you feel worse about yourself.

Another thing us, humans assume is that if you like something about yourself, then you are vain. We are too modest to say good things about ourselves. We can't mentally put ourselves down, we need to love ourselves and be comfortable in our own skin. I want you to start loving yourself more and either write 8 things you like about your looks in the comments below or on your own blog.

1. I love my tanned skin.

2. I have pretty, brown hair.

3. I like how short I am.

4. I love my contagious smile.

5. I like my body size and body shape.

6. I like my teeth. (Weird but true.)

7. I love my skin, acne and all.

8. I love my eyebrows.

I'm going to be honest, I felt very vain thinking of things I liked about myself, but now that I've done it, I already feel more comfortable with my looks. That is why I want you to do this too. Let me know if you do this tag on your blog - I would love to see!

Bye for now,

Would You Rather // Beauty Questions

Hello everybody,

It's exam week next week, which means I have been pretty busy this weekend studying (kill me now) so I didn't have much time to prepare a blog post. I thought I would do a Beauty Would You Rather, because it looked fun and it was pretty fast to write up.

1. Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?

Probably never cut it again. Yes, I know split ends will be EVERYWHERE, but if I had super short hair, it would not be tamed. I have double crowns on my head, so my hair would be sticking out in every direction!

2. If you had $1000 to spend, would you rather buy clothes or makeup?

I would spend it on clothes and then save money for makeup. I find clothes shopping more fun than makeup shopping as well. This was a hard answer though!

3. Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Lipstick as eyeliner. If you got a small enough brush and a black enough lipstick, it would look (and feel) better than pink eyeliner on your lips.

4. Would you rather only use one eyeshadow colour or one lip colour for the rest of your life?

Eye colour, and it would be a very neutral shade so it wouldn't really matter as much.

5. Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

Winter clothes in Summer - I love Winter fashion!

6. Would you rather have dark nails or bright nails all year round?

Bright, because in Summer, they would match the season, and they would add a touch of colour to Winter.

7. Would you rather give up your favourite lip product or your favourite eye product?

Favourite lip product, because I love my mascara haha!

8. Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a ponytail or a messy bun?

Probably ponytail because I suck at tying messy buns. I'm a dancer, so they always end up as perfect ballet buns with a few wispy bits, rather than a proper messy bun. Ponytails can also be fancied up or messy and casual.

9. Would your rather never be able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?

Never use lipgloss. I don't like the feeling of lipgloss anyway. I love lipstick, however :).

10. Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all or sharpie them in everyday?

Sharpie them in. My hairline is quite high up, and my eyebrows are the only things stopping my forehead look too big for my face. If you use a thin enough sharpie that is the right colour your eyebrows might look slightly better than horrible. Might.

11. Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?

Nail polish for sure. I am very impatient, so most of the time I paint my nails and smudge them instantly. Makeup is also more useful than nail polish, for me.

Bye for now,

P.S Sorry for any spelling/grammar mistakes, I'm very stressed out at the moment so please ignore them!

Product Empties

Hello everyone,

I hate the moment of realisation when you discover you have run a product completely dry. There is a sense of satisfaction, because you have used a product without wasting any of it, but in means you no longer have it.

I do, however, like seeing what other people has used up, because it means they can give you a trustworthy opinion or review on the product. That is why I am going to do an Empties blog post. I have been saving up empty bottles and now I have enough to do a full post! Yay!

Empty Product #1 - Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer

I love this product! It doesn't clog my pores and doesn't cause pimples due to its oiliness. My skin absorbs it very quickly, so I'm not left with a sticky feeling on my face. It has a pump so it is easy to get out and prevent spilling or getting too much for your face. I use half a pump for my face.

Empty Product #2 - Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume Mascara

This mascara wasn't amazing, nor was it terrible. It did its job, but I don't think i will repurchase it. I also like experimenting with different mascaras. This mascara has dried out, but it lasted a long time. Don't worry, it hadn't gone out of date yet. What mascara is your favourite? Let me know in the comment below and I'll try it out.

Empty Product #3 - Clearasil Rapid Action Pimple Cream

I purchased this a long time ago, and it has been okay. Sometimes when I put it on a pimple overnight it gets rid of it, but sometimes it over dries my skin around the pimple and the pimple stays. I won't be purchasing this again. It has worked on some people's skin, but not mine.

Empty Product #4 - Clean and Clear Advantage Pimple Control Cleanser

This product has worked wonders on my skin! It ran out faster than I would have liked but that was because when I first started using it I used WAY to much at a time. You only need a pea sized amount. I have already repurchased this facewash. You can use it twice daily, but I only use it at night.

Empty Product #5 - Maybelline Fit Me Concealer (shade 20)

This is favourite concealer by far! It blends nicely with or without foundation and one of its shades is perfect for my skin tone. It doesn't look cakey and it brightens up your under eyes really well. I'm repurchasing this ASAP.

Empty Product #6 - Formula 10.0.6 Keep Your Cool Breakout Calming Mask

This facemask is amazing! It is cooling, reduces redness and is only 5 minutes. It isn't a clay mask so it is invisible on your skin and super easy to wash off. I'm not sure if I am rebutting this because I want to give some other Formula 10.0.6 masks a try.

My Fortune Cookie

On Wednesday night, I went out to a Chinese restaurant with my family for my sister's birthday. The food was delicious by the way. After we paid the bill, we were given fortune cookies. If you are unfamiliar with fortune cookies, they are little biscuits that act as a container for a little slip of paper that tells you your fortune in a quote-ish way.

I am not superstitious, nor do I believe that fortune cookies can actually tell the future, but my fortune cookie really got me thinking.

It read:

'Don't hesitate... Go after what you seek'

It's pretty much saying that you should grasp every opportunity, take a leap of faith and work to get what you want without hesitation. Whether 'what you seek' is money, love, a job or something completely different, this quote applies to you.

Young people are often so ambitious; they have so many dreams. If you ask a small child what they want to be when they are older, they will probably say something like, "I want to be a doctor," or "I want to catch robbers and be a police" or even "I will be a princess who will marry a handsome king". (I was the last one as a child haha.) See how ambitious they are? This kid may grow up to be an adult who hates their job.

That is why you should keep the tip inside the cookie in mind. If not, then you will regret not following your dreams. Next time you pass an opportunity, 'don't hesitate... go after what you seek'.

Review : Bastiste Dry Shampoo

Hello everybody,

Many people use dry shampoo, whether it's to get rid of oiliness or add volume to their hair. A brand of dry shampoo that I have been using for a long time is Bastiste. I used to use the pink bottle covered in flowers (I forget the scent it was - probably a flowery scent) but then I found this one.

Batiste Dry Shampoo Hint of Colour Medium & Brunette

It's for brown hair!! Now us brunettes don't have to worry about making sure all the white dry shampoo is completely invisible! You can spray it onto your hair and it won't make a white mark, unless you use too much at a time. It works amazingly! I use it because I get very oily hair, and this product works wonders. The oil will be absorbed enough for my hair to be presentable.

I don't know if this bottle is new or not, but I hadn't seen it around before.

This bottle of dry shampoo smells subtly of caramel and sugar, which is great for me because I love sweet smells.

Next time you are out looking for a dry shampoo to buy, I strongly recommend checking this one out. Check it out HERE.

How To Manage Acne + My Skincare Routine

Hello everybody!

First I'd like to thank you guys for 50+ Bloglovin' followers! It means so much that people want to read and enjoy my posts :) lots of love to you guys! xx

I have oily skin that is prone to acne, but recently, my skin has improved greatly and I am slowly eliminating the acne on my face. I mostly have it on my forehead but I also have some spots around my nose. I have had a lot of practice when it comes to managing acne, and I have quite a few tips when it comes to managing and controlling acne.

How To Manage Your Acne:

~ Don't touch your face! This is never good - it can lead to bleeding pimples and more breakouts!

~ If you do have a bleeding pimple, apply a waterproof spray band-aid onto a photo

~ Don't use too many products at once; this can lead to your skin "freaking out" and breaking out.

~ Just because you have oily skin, doesn't mean you shouldn't moisturise. If you don't moisturise, your skin dries out and produces more oil, causing more pimples.

~ Test out a new skincare routine for 4-8 months before deciding whether to keep it or change it. This gives it a chance to fully work.

~ Drink water! This sounds very simple, and it is, but it is very important and makes a HUGE difference. Drinking water flushes the bad toxins out of your system, keeps your healthy and hydrates your skin.

~ Choose the right moisturizer! People often think that it's makeup that clogs your pores - which it does, but not as much as moisturizer. Makeup is made to sit on your skin, where-as moisturizer is meant to sink into your skin. Make sure your moisturizer doesn't clog your pores.

~ Don't pile on the makeup! I used to wear concealer over every single pimple every single day, but once I eased up on the makeup, my skin has thanked me. My pimples are clearer because I'm not blocking my pores with makeup. I also don't wear pressed powder because I found that it was blocking my pores and causing many "under the skin" spots. I'm not saying you should ditch the makeup all together, but make sure you aren't over doing it and you are removing it properly at the end of each day.

I currently have a stable and effective skincare routine, so I'll share it with you guys.

Every morning, I was my face with the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne face wash, and it is really refreshing in the morning because it smells like fruit and its easy to apply and wash off. After washing my face, I use 1 pump of the Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturiser for combination skin all over my face and neck. Then I apply Maybelline FitMe concealer under my eyes, avoiding my pimples.

Every night, I wash my face with the Clean and Clear Advantage Pimple Control Cleanser. I love this product; since I started using it, my spots have been smaller and less red. After my shower I use the same moisturiser as before.

Once a week I use the Sukin Revitalising Facial Scrub. This brand is really good because it is paraben and sulfate free, it's packaging is recyclable and the product feels amazing on your skin. It is, however, an Australian brand, so I don't think you can purchase it in-store in other countries.

If I'm ever really hot or feeling flushed, I use the Formula 10.0.6 Keep Your Cool Breakout Calming mask. Normally I use this after I have dance, because that is when my face is flushed and my spots are more red then normal.

When I wear sunscreen on my face, I wear the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face sunscreen. This sunscreen doesn't feel thick at all, and it doesn't make your face super matte, but it doesn't add to the shine on your face either.
